Default How to keep Honey happy in a small and old cage?

Honey has damaged her big cage, and now we have to put her in her old one. It is quite small and it doesn't have any toys or perches in it. Just two old pots and a perch is all she got. She doesn't seem very happy in it, especially without Cookie, who has left us. I want to know how to keep her happy in this old cage. My parents refuse to buy another because the old one had cost quite a lot. They don't trust Honey and they think she will damage another one as well. Any idea what I should do?

Amazon is where I got mine for a good price. What happened to the old cage? It might be able to be repaired. Honestly, tiels need room to stretch their wings, if she doesn't have that it won't be healthy for her.

I'm wondering what on earth she did to her big cage to damage it to the point where she has to be moved out of it?

As roxy said, they need room to stretch their wings. So anything smaller than her wing span is too small. A lot of people recommend a cage that is double the bird's wing span in length and width.

How often is she allowed out? A small cage could be acceptable if only used for roosting and the waking hours are spend outside the cage.

I have a Prevue Henrix F040 and it's great! I actually have two of them. They currently house budgies, but I think one would be a good size for a tiel or two. Or you could opt for the double. I got mine for about $120 on amazon, although it may be a different price now. It's $113 now!

There's a larger version of it too that costs $162, but I think it would be more suitable for your tiel!

Perhaps she will enjoy foraging; busy brains and beaks make happy birds.

She has room to stretch her wings, of course. But she can't fly around in it.

Also I tried to get the cage fixed. I went to this repair shop but they said that its better if we just buy a new one. Honey really hasn't done a lot of damage to it, its my housekeeper who has damaged it. The cage had a wood framework, which she destroyed (I have no idea how she did it, but she said she did). Its in a bad shape now.

Here is a picture of Honey's current cage:

Here's that double:

I wasn't sure how much you were wanting to spend on a new cage, but this one would be really nice for her!

Remove the nest pots she does not need them and add some toys.
